I looked extensively at the data to try to figure this out and there doesn’t seem to be any one thing to point too unfortunately. As noted in the article, multiple smaller blogs picked it up (nnknown to me whether she/Finneas pitched it to them or they found it on Soundcloud) and then once Hilly Dilly featured the track, it really started to gain a lot more traction. Goes to show the potential power of starting small with promotional efforts and building up.
